Death of Mr. Bassett
Mr. Elisha G. Bassett, a prominent young farmer, died at his home near Fort Valley last Thursday morning. He had been sick for three weeks, pneumonia being the immediate cause of his death. Four or five months ago Mr. Bassett was married at Byron to Miss Lena Ezell, and it is especially sad that death has so soon parted him from his loving bride. Of Mr. Bassett the Fort Valley Enterprise feelingly says: " 'Lish' Bassett, as he was familiarly known by his many friends was a young man of many noble traits; a warm-hearted friend, a true Christian, a most genial companion; he made friends of all with whom he came in contact. He was a young farmer with a bright future before him, having inherited an unusual amount of pluck and energy from his father; he was a tireless worker, and gave promise of being one of the largest landed estate owners in this ????." We join their many friends in their sincere sympathy with the bereaved widow and other relatives in this sore bereavement. The Heavenly Father called him and He will afford consolation to those left behind.
