Bernard John Hoffart, the son of Michael and Katherine (Horn) Hoffart was born March 14, 1909 on a farm near Osmond. He died Thursday, February 2, 1984 at the Lundberg Memorial Hospital in Creighton at the age of 74 years, 10 months and 18 days. He was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church at Eden Valley.
On April 8, 1933 he married Beatrice Shacklett at South Sioux City. They farmed in the Plainview and Creighton vicinity until retiring to Creighton in 1972. Ben had been an agent with Framers Mutual Insurance Company of Nebraska for 50 years. He was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Norman (Roberta) Reese of Wausa and Mrs. Larry ( Barbara Jean) Emory of Creighton; seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren; three brothers, Carl and Ernest of Plainview and Harry of Norfolk;and one sister, Mrs. Tom (Freda) Smalley of Plainview.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Hugo and Ludwig.
