Funeral services for Melba M. Kienow, 85 of Creighton were held Monday, December 29, 2003 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Creighton.

Reverend Dwight Albers officiated with the 10:30 service with interment in the Greenwood Cemetery in Creighton.

Serving as pallbearers were Lyle Nielson, Ron Nielsen, Dan Kienow, Jason Nielsen, Tom Ehrenberg and Kelsey Kienow.

Melba Minnie Kienow, daughter of Charles and Clara (Scheer) Iauch, was born Frebrary 22, 1918 at Creighton. She attended a rural Creighton school, graduated from Creighton High School in 1936. She received normal school training and taught in several rural Creighton schools and at Plum Valley at Center.

She was married to Loren Kienow on June 3, 1945 at Zion Lutheran Church in Creighton. They were parents of one son, Charles.

The couple operated the Winnetoon grocery store and later lived on a farm west of Winnetoon. They moved to Creighton in 1984. Her husband passed away in 1997 and Melba entered the Creighton Care Center in April of 2001.

Melba was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church and Women's Circle, VFW Auxiliary, Senior Citizens and Winnetoon card club. She enjoyed playing cards and visiting with friends.

She passed away December 25, 2003 at the Creighton Care Center at the age of 85.

She is survived by her son and his wife, Charles and Nanette Kienow of Winnetoon; three grandchildren, Dan and Kelsey, both of Winnetoon and Katie of Russia.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, brother, Laurence and two sisters, Vera Iauch and Edna Jundt.
