Funeral services for Robert "Lefty" Peters, 66, Creighton were held April 13 at Zion Lutheran Church in Creighton with Rev. Paul Banitt officiating. Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery in Creighton with military honors by VFW Post 1151 of Creighton.

He died April 11, 1996 at Lundberg Memorial Hospital in Creighton.

Pallbearers were Craig Peters, Troy Peters, Brad Erbst, Doug Eggen, Chris Eggen, Todd Peters, Lance Eggen, DeLynn Friedrichsen and Darren Friedrichsen. Honorary pallbearers were Dean Nielsen, Erik Nielsen, Lee McKown, Lawrence Kumm, Bill Hopkins, Alan Dartman, Russell Sorensen, Duane Mlady, Lee George and Skeeter Nelson.

Robert Glenn Peters was born January 11, 1930 to Ernest and Alma (Claussen) Peters at Bloomfield. He was confirmed in Trinity Lutheran Church and attended Trinity Lutheran parochial school through eighth grade. He graduated from Bloomfield High School in 1948 and married LaVonne Jacob on April 7, 1949 at Bloomfield. Four children were born to this union, Cindy, Shelley, Dan and Tom.

He served in the United States Navy for two years and later was engaged in farming northeast of Creighton. He was a real estate agent and was also employed in the Knox County Assessor's office and ASCS office.

His wife died in 1991. On May 6, 1995 he married Hap Harder. He moved to Creighton in January 1995.

He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, where he served on church council for several years and a member and past commander of VFW Post 1151 of Creighton. He served on the Knox County Fair Board for 26 years, was a past 4-H leader and also was on Bruce Park Terrace Council

Survivors include his wife, Hap; children and spouses; Cindy and Mike Elwood of Waterloo, Shelley and Steve Whitwer of Wymore, Dan and Susan Peters of Omaha and Tom and Sheryl Peters of Grand Island; five stepchildren, Rick Harder, Patrick Harder, Terri Harder and husband, Doug Kristensen, Amy Williams and Susan Harder; 14 grandchildren; four step grandchildren; his father, Ernest Peters of Bloomfield; brothers, Norman and Orville of California, sisters, Phyllis Erbst of Bloomfield, Thelma Eggen of Creighton, Janice Eggen of Crofton and Ruth Peters of Lincoln.

He was preceded in death by his wife, LaVonne, mother, Alma and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Paul and Lucille Jacob.
