Age 85, passed away Wednesday, April 25, 2012 at home following an extended illness. He was born September 6, 1926 in Woodbury, TN, the son of John and Lilly (West) Prater.

In February of 1951, he married Doris Babcock in Colorado and she preceded him in death February 23, 2012. Lenwood served honorably in the U.S. Army. He worked for Ford Motor Company, Livonia Transmission plant as an inspector for thirty years. After retirement, Lenwood moved up north, where he was an avid Beagler! Lenwood loved to read the Bible and thoroughly enjoyed hunting and fishing with his friends. Survivors include: one daughter, Bridget (Jerry) Fleming; loving friend and caregiver, Jean Chiado of Whitmore Lake; four granddaughters, Heather, Melissa, Michelle and April; three great grandchildren, Leo, Sammy and Maya; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his ex-wife, Doris, he was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters and four brothers. Cremation has taken place. The memorial service will be 2 PM Saturday, April 28, 2012 at Stark Funeral Service with Pastor Wayne Kurtycz of Northridge Church, Plymouth, MI officiating. Contributions in his memory may be made to Livingston Meals on Wheels. Envelopes are available at the funeral home where the family will gather with friends from 1 PM until time of service. Burial of his cremains will take place in Highland Cemetery.
