Alma, the twelve year old son of Horatio Nelson Kent, died Wednesday at between ten and eleven o'clock, after a lingering illness of about three weeks. The little fellow was operated upon for appendicitis and was seemingly getting along nicely up to the time of the fire of October 3. He had been sitting up in bed and Dr. Cockrell and all who were nursing him had every hope of his recovery, but the fire came and he had to be removed twice and from that time he has been gradually sinking until the end came. The little fellow made a noble struggle for life and all that was medical skill could offer was done for him, but odds seemed to be against him and he finally succombed.

Funeral services were held at the Methodist church of this place yesterday and the remains were interred in the Hinsdale cemetery.

The bereaved parents have the sympathy of the community in the death of their little son.
