Jimmy Carter, 66, widower of Ethel Mae Grimsley Carter, died Sunday, June 24, 2012.

Services will be held 3:00 p.m. Wednesday at Dillon Second Baptist Church with burial in Evergreen Cemetery directed by Cooper Funeral Home. Visitation will be held 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Born in Dillon, November 28, 1945, he was the son of the late Roy and Alice Louise Ammons Carter. He was a member of Second Baptist Church in Dillon. He was employed by Dixiana Mills of Dillon for 28 years, and later retired from Blumenthal Mills of Marion after 4 years. He enjoyed fishing and gardening and generously shared with his family and friends.

Survivors include a step-son, Ronnie and Penny Hyatt of Fuquay Varina, NC; and step-daughter, Patricia Hyatt Slocum, and 3 grandchildren of Fuquay Varina, NC; brothers, Roy Lamar and Barbara Carter of Dillon, Bobby and Margaret Carter of Dillon; sisters, Irene Grimsley and Christine Huggins of Dillon.

Mr. Carter was preceded in death by a son, Robert Glen Carter; sisters, Rachel Owens and Virginia Kernodle; and brother, William Eugene Carter.
