Residing in Vancouver for 53 years, Hazel and her family were very active in church ministry. She was an organist at Battle Ground Baptist for thirty years and prior to that time a pianist at Manor Evangelical Church. Hazel loved gardening and was a member of the Manor Garden Club for many years.
Hazel and Warren enjoyed 62 years of marriage before Warren passed away on February 21, 1994. Hazel continued living on the family farm until 1996 when she moved to the Pavel adult foster home in Brush Prairie. Her family expresses appreciation to the Pavel family for their loving care during the past year.
Besides her husband, Hazel was preceded in death by her brothers, Harold, Roger and Norval Lawhead, and her sister Nell Callender.
Survivors include one brother Don of Kodiak, Alaska; her daughters: Joann Wells (husband Frank) and Arlys Barnes (husband Eddie) of Vancouver, and Dorothy Miller (husband Bob) of Glendale, California; and two sons, Rex (wife Karen) of Vancouver and Don (wife Jane) of Brush Prairie.
One of the greatest enjoyments of Hazel’s life was her 15 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
