Taken from the Broomknoll Church Records...Walter Stirling Knox took over the duties of the Session Clerk at his father's death. He too had been Treasurer, the third generation of the Knox family to hold that office. His service as Session Clerk lasted 16 years.
Now, at the time of writing, we are wondering, as did the Session at his father's death how the Broomknoll Kirk will get on without him. He was such a loveable man; less dominating than his father, but with great ability under his shy manner, and with a loyalty and love for his church that was unsurpassable. We are all deeply grieved at our loss.
The fifth generation of the Knox family in Broomknoll comprised James, who was killed in operations with the R.A.F. in the Second World War, and his sister Elsie, who is leader of one of our Primaries.
