Greenbush Tribune, Thursday, June 23, 1949 Pioneer Lady Passes Away Mrs. Anna Kelly Homesteaded Here Forty-Six Years Ago Mrs. Anna Kelly passes quietly away about 3:00 Sunday morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. John Hogan of Badger after severe attacks of asthma. Anna Kotrba was born in Bohemia August 20, 1873. At the age of nine she immigrated with her parents to Tabor, Minnesota where she spent the remainder of her early life. In 1890 she was united in marriage in East Grand Forks to Thomas Kelly of LaCrosse, Wisconsin. About forty-six years ago she and her husband moved to their homestead eleven miles north of Greenbush. She made her home with her daughter, Mrs. John Hogan, at Badger for the last 13 years. Her husband died in 1927. Three sons preceded her in death. One son died in infancy. George died in 1934 and Fred in 1946. She is survived by her daughters Mrs. Laura Stout of Newcastle, California; Mrs Charles (Evelyn) Haugen of Greenbush, Helen Kelly of Anoka, Minnesota, Mrs. John (Mary) Hogan of Badger, and Mrs. Iver (Lillian) Nelson of Roseau. Rosary was said by Father McMahan Wednesday evening at 8:00 at the Listug Funeral Chapel. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM Thursday, June 23rd at the Blessed Sacrament Church at Greenbush with Father Montgomery officiating. Interment will be in the Catholic cemetery near Greenbush. Sympathy is extended by the many friend of the family in their hour of sorrow.
