Anita May (Walker) Fary
June 7, 1917 - June 23, 2012
Anita May (Walker) Fary born June 7, 1917, in Sacramento, passed away June 23, 2012. She lived in the Camino Heights and Placerville, Calif., areas since 1968.
Anita was a third generation native Californian from Amador County. She came from strong pioneer stock! She was proud of her heritage and enjoyed creating books of old family pictures for her children and grandchildren. She loved sharing stories with everyone of her ancestors' covered wagon adventure to California.
Anita attended schools in Sacramento and graduated from Grant Union High School in 1934, then attended Sacramento Junior College. While at Grant she met Frank Fary. They were married in 1940 at her parents' home in North Sacramento. They had three sons: Dick, Bob (Barbara) and Bill (Charla).
The family moved frequently throughout Northern California with Frank's promotions within the Department of Fish and Game. Anita enjoyed substitute teaching elementary school and working with Head Start children. Most of all she enjoyed her children and loved spending time with her six grandchildren: Sandy, Eric, Brenda, Brady, Kimmery and Katie, and recently with her 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Frank Fary; son, Dick Fary; sister, Evaline McDole; brother, Clovis Walker; and parents, Clovis and Luella Walker.
Please join us in celebrating Anita's life. A viewing will be held Wednesday, June 27, from 5 to 8 p.m., and a funeral will be held Thursday, June 28, at 11 a.m., at Green Valley Mortuary in Cameron Park, Calif. Please sign the guest book online at greenvalleymortuary.com.
A special thanks to Carol Neri, Anita's care provider, who became a close friend, and to Dr. Bill Barley for his care and friendship over many years. In lieu of flowers please make a donation in her name to Shriner's Childrens' Hospital, the CAHP Widows and Orphan Fund or a charity of your choice.
