Adelaide Laura "Addie" (Bailey) Steele was born in Allegan, Michigan, the daughter of Jacob and Mary (Thomas) Bailey. She married William Steele on January 5, 1882. On March 5, 1895, Addie died at her home at 306 Broadway from acute peritonitis. Her attending physician was Leiser. Her death was very sudden. She had been ill only a few days and most of her many friends did not know that she was sick. Her physician did not consider her very dangerously ill until a change for the worse took place. Her funeral took place from the residence. (Helena Independent, 3/6/1895) Moved to Forestvale Cemetery on May 3, 1898.

Note: Mrs. Anna B. Steele purchased the plot in Forestvale Cemetery, in the Valleyview Section, plot 142 where William and Adelaide were re-interred. Anna and her daughter moved to Michigan.
