Billie "B.R." Ray Burleson, 76, of Smyer, Texas passed away on June 26, 2012 at Odyssey Hospice in Lubbock, Texas.

Funeral Services are under the direction of George Price Funeral Home in Levelland, Texas and will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, June 29, 2012 at St. Johns United Methodist Church in Lubbock, Texas with Reverend Ann Aiken and Reverend Ted Dotts officiating. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park Cemetery in Lubbock, Texas.

B.R. was born on April 29, 1936 in O'Donnell, Texas. He was the son of William "Bill" Frank and Ruby (Odom) Burleson. Bill and Ruby moved the family to Smyer when he was just eighteen months old. While in High School, B.R. earned two Lone Star Degrees in FFA. He married Barbara Crawford on January 20, 1956 in Smyer, Texas. He was a past member of the Smyer School Board and was General Superintendent of the Hockley County Stock Show for twenty years. He liked to entertain the Smyer Community Children and take them fishing. What he loved more than livestock and calf roping were his grandsons.
He was a farmer in Smyer his whole life. B.R. was a Veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Korean War.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara of 56 years, two daughters; Cindy Albright and her husband, Travis, Becky and her husband, Eric Maul, two grandsons; Tate Albright and Ben Terry, one brother; Kenneth Burleson, one beloved brother-in-law; Larry Crawford, and two nieces; Jennifer Featherston and her husband, Jason, Kristy Sanders and her husband, Steve. He was preceded in death by his parents; Bill and Ruby Burleson, his in-laws; J.B. and Natalie Crawford, and one granddaughter; Tori Albright.

The family suggests memorials to: St. Johns United Methodist Church / 1501 University Avenue / Lubbock, Texas 79401, the American Cancer Society / 3513 10th Street / Lubbock, Texas 79415, or a charity of your choice.
