Mary Catherine (Fries) Schultz, age 97, of Norwalk, passed away Sunday evening, June 24, 2012, with her family by her side at Stein Hospice Care Center in Sandusky.

She was born February 15, 1915, in Frank's Corners, Ohio, to Earl and Amelia (Boose) Fries and moved to the Norwalk area in 1960.

She was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Milan and served on the Altar and Rosary Society. Also a member of the Retirees of Local 780 at General Motors, Farm Women's Club, One Alone Organization, Wakeman Grange and resided at the Carriage House in Norwalk. She was a full-time homemaker and enjoyed traveling, gardening, animals, sewing, reading, socializing and solving crossword puzzles.

She is survived by her sons, Richard R. Schultz of Amherst, Ohio, Ronald A. (Susan) Schultz of Amherst, John G. (Dianne) Schultz of Sandusky, Dennis R. (Wanda) Schultz of Berlin Heights, and Loren H. (Sharon) Schultz of New London; daughters, Kathryn M. Schultz Jines of Cedar Creek, Texas and Evonne Schultz Kohon of Austin, Texas; 25 grandchildren, five step-grandchildren and numerous great, great-great, great-great-great and great-great-great-great grandchildren; brothers, Bernard Fries of Grandville, Mich., Earl Fries of Cannonsburg, Mich., Linus Fries of San Saba, Texas, Paul Fries of Sandusky; a sister, Emily Fries Goff of Grand Rapids, Mich.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond R. Schultz in 1985; brothers, Adelbert, Vernon, Joseph and Arnold Fries; sisters, Rita and Hildegaard Fries; and two grandsons, Dennis Schultz and Michael Schultz.

Friends may call 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, June 27, at the Evans Funeral Home, 314 E. Main St., Norwalk. A mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 28, at St. Anthony Catholic Church, 130 S. Main St., Milan, with the Rev. Francis J. Speier officiating. Burial will follow at St. Anthony Catholic Cemetery.
