Albert J. McDonald Jr., 60, of Allenstown, passed away peacefully at home June 22, 2012, following a nine-month battle against cancer.

The son of Albert J. McDonald Sr. and Jean (Atkins) McDonald Gugliotta, he was born in Manchester Dec. 8, 1951.

Mr. McDonald was a 1970 graduate of Manchester Memorial High School. He joined the Army and served his tour of duty in Vietnam as a medic. He enjoyed sports and played softball for several years. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved fishing, boating and hunting with his beloved dog, Brandeewhine.

He was retired from the State of New Hampshire as a youth counselor at the Youth Development Center in Manchester. He was well respected by the young men he counseled and several of them still kept in contact with him as adults. Mr. McDonald had a quick wit and was a prankster and will be sorely missed, as he touched so many lives and was loved and held most dear by all.

In addition to his parents, Albert was predeceased Nov. 10, 2011, by his brother, Alan McDonald.

A graveside memorial service will be held at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery, 110 Daniel Webster Highway, Boscawen.
