ELOY - R.D. Gant, 64, of Tucson died on June 5, 2012, at home.

Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Church of Christ, 1023 N. Main St. in Eloy. The funeral will follow at 11, with Brother Eddie Williams officiating. Burial will be in Eloy Memorial Park.

Mr. Gant was born on Aug. 14, 1947, in Raytown, Mo. He was a good football player in high school and worked as a truck driver in the cement industry. He was a member of the Church of Christ and enjoyed music, being skilled at playing many instruments, especially the guitar. He enjoyed blues and jazz. He was devoted to his family.

Survivors include three daughters, Tammy Gant of Phoenix, Catrena R. Turner of Bullard Texas, and Kendra Gant of Tucson; three sons, Mickey Gant of Tucson, R.D. Gant Jr. of Lexington Park, Md., and Ray Gant of Atlanta; his mother, Vila B. Gant of Eloy; three sisters, Lula Dorsey of White House, Texas, Bertha Montgomery of Richmond, Va., and Vernita Gant of Eloy; five brothers, Robert Gant Sr. of Arizona City, Eugene, Ronnie d. and Larry Gant, all of Tucson, and Eltorna Gant of Eloy; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert B. Gant; a son, Ronnie R. Turner; and theree brothers, Tommy, Fredrick and Willie B. Gant.
