James Harry Hardin, 71, a resident of Hale, died Tuesday afternoon at a rest home at Carrollton, where he had been a patient a month. He had been ill three months.

Funeral services for Mr. Hardin will be held at 2 o'clock Thursday afternoon at the chapel of the Austin Funeral Home at Hale with the Rev. Marvin Noble officiating.

Burial will be in the Elizabeth cemetery.

Mr. Hardin, a son of John J. Hardin and Minerva Jane (Crosswhite) Hardin, was born on Feb. 23, 1891, at Olathe, Kan.

He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Calla I. Hardin of the home; three daughters, Mrs. Lodena Gillmore, Clintan, Mrs. Jessie Woodward, Clarinda, Ia., and Mrs. Ruth Bouldin, Leaday, Tex.; and two sons, James J. Hardin, Council Bluffs, Ia., and Clio F. Hardin, in the armed forces.
