GARDEN CITY - Muriel Reve Wallace, 83, of Garden City died Sunday, Dec. 29, 2002, at the Terrace Garden Care Center in Garden City.
She was born Aug. 3, 1919, in Thayer to Charley F. and Sibyl (Jones) Gildart. She had been a resident of Garden City since 1994, moving from Shallow Water. She taught elementary school in Shallow Water for 22 years, before retiring in 1984, the year she received the Master Teacher Award from the Scott County Teachers Association.
She married Harry F. Wallace on June 2, 1946, in Chanute. He preceded her in death on Jan. 8, 1999.
She was a member of the Bible Christian Church of Garden City and formerly of the Gospel Fellowship Church of Shallow Water, a charter member of the Painting Daisy Bells of Syracuse, the China Painters Teachers Association, the Pyramid China Painters of Scott City, the National Education and the Kansas Teachers Associations. She was a 4-H leader, a Sunday School teacher, a china painting instructor and a member of the Mothers of Preschoolers. She enjoyed quilting.
Survivors include two sons, two daughters, four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; five brothers, and six sisters.
The service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Gospel Fellowship Church in Shallow Water with the Rev. Randy Caddell officiating. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Garden City. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Price and Sons Funeral Home in Garden City.
