Obituary:
James Calvin Cook, 70 a retired engineer who had been resident of this community for the past four years, died suddenly following a heart attack late yesterday afternoon at his home on Saratoga street.
He was born May 4, 1881, in Texas and had resided in Bakersfield for 28 years prior to the time he moved to San Luis Obispo county. An active member of the Gover City Men's club, he had also served as secretary to the local pensioners club for the past several months.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Kate R. Cook of Grover City; three daughters, Mrs. Velma Henderson, San Luis Obispo; Mrs. Myrtle Rostain, Bakersfield, and Mrs. Mildred Bentz of Tucson, Ariz.; three sons, Woodrow W. Cook of Bakersfield, and Ralph N. Cook and Leon G. Cook, both of Downey. Five granddaughters and five grandsons also survive.
