Mrs. Mattie C. Allgood, 87, 363 S. Piedmont Ave., died Tuesday, May 4 in a Rome hospital. She was born Oct. 15, 1905 (Marker has October 14, 1905) in Polk County and was a member of the Second Baptist Church and a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Watson Allgood and parents, James M. and Alice Dudley Crawford. She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Helen Hurt, Rockmart; son, J.T. Allgood, Dallas; brother, Amos T. Crawford, Kennesaw; sister, Mrs. Lillie C. Baxter, Marietta; five grandchildren and six great grandchildren. The funeral service was held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 6 from the Second Baptist Church with Rev. David Taylor, Rev. Joe Woodard and Rev. Donald Boyles officiating. Interment followed in Rose Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers were Carl Prince, Dennis Alexander, Mett Prince, Kirk Alexander, Wesley Alexander and Tim Hurt.
