Frieda M. Hesseltine, age 89, of Washington, Iowa, died Saturday, April 14, 2012 at the Halcyon House in Washington after failing in health for the past year.

Celebration of life services will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the First Church of God in Brighton with Pastor Ryan Meader and Pastor Rick Zickefoose officiating. Visitation will begin 3:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Jones-Eden Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening. Interment will take place at the Eicher Cemetery in rural Washington County. Memorials have been established for the First Church of God in Brighton or Washington County Hospice. Frieda Mary Woodyard was born April 19, 1922 in Burlington, Iowa the daughter of Earnest and Mary (Immoos) Woodyard. She attended school in Burlington, Iowa. Frieda was united in marriage to Irvan D. Hesseltine on March 16, 1940.

She was a homemaker and farmwife. She lived most of her life south of Washington on the family farm. Frieda lived in Brighton from 1984 until 2005 when she moved to Washington, Iowa. She had worked at the United Presbyterian Home in Washington where she was a nurse's aide and later worked in housekeeping.

Frieda was a member of the First Church of God in Brighton. She enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Frieda kept busy taking care of her garden and flowers.

She is survived by daughter Karren Zickefoose and husband Gail of Brighton, Iowa; daughter Connie Waterhouse of Washington, Iowa; son Lyle Hesseltine and wife Carol of Washington, Iowa; daughter Sue Woodard and husband Jack of Batavia, Iowa; son Dale Hesseltine and wife Rhonda of Crawfordsville, Iowa; son-in-law David Henderson of Washington, Iowa; 18 grandchildren, 55 great grandchildren, 18 great great grandchildren and one sister, Fern Burns and husband Charles of Lakeside, California.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 2004; daughter, Linda Henderson in 2011; 1 grandson; 2 great granddaughters; 3 great grandsons; son-in-law, Bob Waterhouse; sister, Frances Russell; brother, Floyd Woodyard; and an infant brother, Lloyd Woodyard.
