VANDENBERG VILLAGE - A funeral Mass for Roger L. Fisher, 71 of Lompoc, past president of the Vandenberg Village Community Services District, will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Queen of Angeles Catholic Church.

The Rev. John Fitzgerald will officiate. The Rev. Herbert Shears will give the eulogy at 7 p.m. Monday. Burial with full Air Force honors will be at Lompoc Cemetery.

Mr. Fisher died Thursday morning at his home after a lengthy illness.

He was born Aug. 5, 1920 in Morehouse, Mo. and lived in Lompoc since 1981, moving from Arcadia.

He graduated from the U.S. Military Academy, West Point, N.Y. in January 1943, receiving his bachelor's degree and earning his pilot wings.

He then served in the European Theater of Operations, flying B-17 bombers from bases in England. After World War II, Mr. Fisher remained in the Air Force, retiring in April 1965 as a lieutenant-colonel.

Mr. Fisher attended Purdue University and held a master's degree in aeronautical engineering from the Air Force Institute of Technology and a master's degree in civil engineering from UC Irvine.

He worked for both McDonnell-Douglas and Martin-Marietta as an aeronautical engineer and with James Montgomery Consulting Engineers as a civil engineer, retiring in 1985.

Besides heading the VVCSD, he was a member of the Retired Officers Association and the Village Country Club, where he was an avid golfer.

Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Jane Anne Fisher of Lompoc; two daughters, Patricia A. Marsh of Danville and Kathleen L. Kosta of Placerville; two sons, Roger L. Fisher Jr. of Stockton and John D. Fisher of Redlands; two sisters, Betty Medbourn of Morehouse, Mo. and Helen Childs of Sikeston, Mo.; and seven grandchildren.

Friends may call at the chapel of Starbuck-Lind Mortuary 2-7:30 p.m. Monday. Contributions may be made to Catholic Charities, P.O. Box 665, Lompoc CA 93438, or the Cancer Foundation of Santa Barbara, P.O. Box 837, Santa Barbara CA 93102.
