Orville was born on September 14, 1916 at Newmansville, IL the son of Earl and Jessie Phillips Thomas. He married Louise Cherry on March 3, 1944 in Urbana, IL. She survives in Lincoln.
He is also survived by one son: Larry (Mary Etta) Thomas of Waynesville, IL; two daughters: Vera Thomas of Lincoln and Mary George of Lincoln; three grandsons : Jason and Nathan Thomas; Matthew George and five great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son: Floyd; his parents, two brothers and one sister.
Orville is a retired maintenance worker from Caterpillar Tractor Co., Morton, IL. He was a member of Lincoln Christian Church; Mt. Pulaski Masonic Blue Lodge # 87; Logan County and Ansar Shrine in Springfield , IL and Springfield Consistory. Mr. Thomas was a WW II veteran having served in the US Army from July 28, 1944 to August 8, 1946.

Visitation will be Sunday, July 1 from 2:00-4:00 p.m. at Fricke-Calvert- Schrader Funeral Home, Lincoln. Masonic Services will be held at 4:00 p.m. by the Mt. Pulaski Masonic Lodge. Services for Orville Raymond will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 2, 2012 at Lincoln Christian Church with Ron Otto officiating. Burial will be a Mt. Pulaski Cemetery with full military rites accorded by the Lincoln American Legion Post #263. Memorials may be given to Lincoln Christian Church or Mt. Pulaski Masonic Lodge.
