Former Ottumwan Richard V. Pettit Sr., 71, of Arlington, Wash., died Oct. 17, 1990, in Arlington.

He is survived by his wife, Maxine; two sons, Charles of Lake Stevens, Washington, and Richard Jr. of Silver Lake, Wash.; three daughters, Sharon Mealer of Modesto, Calif., Karon Pettit of Silver Lake, Wash., and Jackie Forrest of Hoodsport, Wash.; 14 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; seven brothers, Audrel and Lowell of Florida; Oramel of Des Moines, Gerald of Arizona, Robert of Centerville and Melbourne and Clair of Ottumwa; and two sisters, Twila Rupe of Illinois and Lavonna Blucher of Burlington.

The service was held at Weller Funeral Home in Arlington, Wash. Burial was in Cypress Lawn Cemetery in Everett, Wash.
