Carl Edward Bankston, 79, Oak Grove, Mo., passed away Sunday, April 17, 2005, at the Oak Grove Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Carl was born August 3, 1925, to Robert and Elma (Oneal) Bankston in Carpenter, Miss. He came to Kansas City as a teenager, where he met and married Teresa Saladino. She preceded him in death on August 10, 1976. Carl retired as a driver for Schutte Lumber. He loved hunting, fishing, sailing, and raising show chickens.

His survivors include son, Frank Bankston and wife, Paula, of Oak Grove; daughter, Lucille Myers and husband, Bill, of Grain Valley, Mo.; brother-in-law who was as close as any son, Vincent Saladino and wife, Sharon, of Grain Valley; brothers, Milton Bankston, and Sonny Newman and wife, Jodie; sister, Willene Hinken and husband, Tom; sisters-in-law, Mary Ann Bankston, Norma Saladino, and Annette Mesh and husband, John; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, April 21, at the Royer Funeral Home, Grain Valley, (816) 847-4441. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Kansas City. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
