DeSoto Parish man dies from injuries

A Stanley man involved in a two-vehicle crash Wednesday afternoon near Logansport died of his injuries.

James Lance Alexander, 36, was pronounced dead at LSU Hospital in Shreveport. Alexander, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected during the crash that happened around 1 p.m. on U.S. Highway 84 at state Highway 191. He was flown from the scene.

The other driver, Steve Crane, 52, of Logansport, was wearing a seatbelt. He received moderate injuries and also was transported to LSU Hospital in Shreveport.

State police said Alexander was traveling south on Bethel Road in a 2000 Ford pickup, and as he attempted to cross the intersection of Highway 84 to enter Highway 191 he collided with Crane, who was eastbound on Highway 84 in a 2004 Ford pickup.

Funeral services honoring the life of James "Lance" Alexander, 36, will be held Saturday, June 30, 2012 at 3:30 PM at Southside Baptist Church in Mansfield, LA. Officiating the service will be Frankie Mathis. Burial will follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Hall Summit, LA. Visitation will be Saturday, June 30, 2012 from 2:00 until service time at the church.

Mr. Alexander was born on March 12, 1976 in Shreveport, LA and entered into rest on June 27, 2012 in Shreveport, La. Lance will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.
Left to cherish his memory are his parents, Glen and Billie Alexander; son, Zethan Alexander; daughter, Allison Alexander; sisters, Melanie Alexander, Aline Alexander, Madeline Alexander, and Glenda Horne and husband, Jason; brother, John Alexander and wife, Cindy, Glenn Phillips and wife, Denise, and Gene Phillips and wife, Melissa; girlfriend, Julia Rick; and ex-wife, Elizabeth Nicole Smith Alexander.
Honoring Lance as pallbearers will be John Alexander, Mason Phillips, Gene Phillips, Zach Phillips, Kevin Phillips, and Glenn Phillips. Honorary pallbearers will be Jason Martin and Roman Hanks.
