Obituary: Virgil Van Conia
Well Known Farmer of Perry County met His Death Friday Morning
Virgil Conia a well know farmer of Perry County, Ind., met his death last Friday when he fell down the cellar stairway and broke his neck. It is stated that Mr. Conia went to his smokehouse to clean it up and had swept the floor. He had a cellar beneath the smokehouse and it is supposed Mr. Conia accidentally fell in the cellar opening beneath the smokehouse, as members of his family, who became alarmed over his long absence and found him dead. His head was on the concrete floor and his feet uppermost. A large hole was found at the back of his head.
Mr. Conia was about 40 years old and was married to Mrs. Lilly Pate (Tate) Robertson of Perry County who survives with several children. The eldest son, Arnold Conia is employed at the Government Dam #45 at Addison, KY. His mother and a sister, Mrs Zeke (Jake) Miller and three brothers Lloyd, Curt and Arnold (s/b Sherman)Conia of Tobinsport also survive.
Burial was held in the Smith's graveyard near Mr. Conia's farm in upper Tobinsport. (s/b Lamb Cemetery at Tobinsport)
