In Jun 1900, her mother widowed, she lived in St. Louis, St. Louis, Missouri and by Oct she married John Lewis Creed in Sangamon County, IL and moved with him to his home town of O'Fallon, St. Clair, IL, where she gave birth to 3 children, Lewis Franklin, Howard E. who died a toddler and Helen L. (Peterson, Hahn).
She suffered the loss of several family members within a short period of time, her mother Mary 1902 her sister Clementine and toddler son Howard E. in 1904 and her brother Ben 1906.
Still listed as married Mae Creed with her children Lewis and Helen, she was a cook for the Higbie family in Red Lodge, Carbon, MT 1910. She married Walter Elson Scott Higbie, a widower with two children, proprietor of the ranch where Mae had been a cook, 15 Aug 1910 at Red Lodge after divorcing John Lewis. She and Walter had two sons Bryon and Benjamin Higbie while living at Red Lodge. They moved to Long Beach between 1914 and 1920 where Walter died, and Mae remained to raise her children and marry once again to Thomas Robert Sturdy. She and Thomas added a daughter, Mary Elizabeth (Rishel), to the family in 1922.
Thomas was untrue to Mae and she left him by 1930. She never married again and continued living in Long Beach until her death.
Mae is buried in her son Lewis Creed Sr.'s family plot with him, his son Lewis Creed Jr., Sr.'s wife Margie, her daughter Jean and Jean's son Danny.
