Mary Elizabeth "Lizzie" Boydston Stephens was born in 1878 in Arkansas and possibly died in the USA measles epidemic of 1917. She was listed in the 1880 U.S. Census as "Elizabeth Boyston" (misspelled) living in Cane Hill, Washington Co., Arkansas. Also listed was her father George W. Boydston, b.abt. 1851 Missouri; mother Ara, b.abt. 1860 Arkansas; and sister Amanda P., b. 1880 Arkansas. She married John Martin Stephens b. 1869, d.1955. They were married 29 June 1894 in Scott Co., Arkansas. Lizzie's children were were Frank, Hester, Jasper, Lillian, Belvie, Flora Dero, Johnnie and Claudia Monroe. Her sons Johnnie and Claudia died the following year in the flu pandemic of 1918. Lizzie and sons Johnnie and Claudia "Claudie" are buried in the Swink Cemetery, in unmarked graves.
