Danny was veteran of the US Air Force. He was a surgical nurse at the VA Hospital in San Antonio, Texas.

Danny always helped anyone, anytime. He was funny, kind and compassionate. Not just neighbors or friends but some of our disasters. He used his nursing skills and education and his natural compassion to help the victims of Katrina in Louisiana. He also went to Florida in 2004 and 2005 to help out and stayed several weeks.

He hosted an Academy Awards dinner party every Spring and a Tequila Party every Fall.

He had a wonderful sense of humor and mixed it well with his sarcasm.

He was the "Dad" to many Schnauzers--always in twos. His two most recent were Antony and Cleopatra.

He was the victim of a heinous homicide.

Danny was cremated. Some of his ashes are to be scattered in the Gulf of Mexico and the rest are to be buried in his mother's plot.

It is in sleeping that my body is refreshed.
It is in letting go that my soul is revived.
It is in dying that I am born anew.
Bless to me my sleeping, O God, bless to me my letting go, bless to me my dying, that tonight I may enter your stillness, that tomorrow I may awake renewed, that in the end I may be fully alive to you.

J. Philip Newell, "Sounds of the Eternal"

Narciso Polanco is Danny's stepfather.

Virginia Castillo is Danny's stepmother.
