James DeMetro Abrashoff, 64, of Idaho Falls, Idaho, and formerly of Mount Union, Pennsylvania, went to be with the Lord Thursday, June 28, 2012, at home surrounded by his family following a lengthy battle with brain cancer.
Jim was born June 8, 1948, in Huntingdon, Pennsylvania, to Steve R. and Anna Kosack Abrashoff.

He married Marcie Flood on March 12, 1977, at the Salem United Methodist Church in Blairs Mills, Pennyslvania.
Jim graduated from Mount Union Area HS in 1966, and soon after enlisted in the United States Air Force. He served four years during the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged as a Sergeant in 1970. He graduated from Pennsylvania State University in 1975 with a B.S. in Nuclear Engineering and went on to graduate from the University of Michigan in 1978 with a M.S.E. in Nuclear Engineering. After graduation, he was offered a position at the Idaho National Laboratory and he and Marcie moved to Idaho Falls, Idaho to begin his career. He continued his employment as a nuclear engineer at the INL for 34 ½ years, retiring in 2012.

He was a member of the Eagle Rock Baptist Church and served as the church treasurer for many years. He enjoyed reading, poetry, politics, and sharing his love for the Lord with others.

Jim will long be remembered as a compassionate and loving husband, father, brother, and devoted friend. His strength and character during his long and courageous battle with cancer was an inspiration to all.

He is survived by his wife, Marcie Flood Abrashoff of Idaho Falls; children, James Nicholas Abrashoff and wife Amanda of Marietta, Pennsylvania, Alicia Marie Blain and husband Jeremiah of Ephraim, Utah, and Stephanie Ann Abrashoff of Baltimore, Maryland; siblings, Connie Morrison of Mount Union, Steve Abrashoff and wife Georgianna of Mount Union, Joyce Ruby and husband Mike of Altoona, and Sam Abrashoff and wife Bonnie of Annapolis, Maryland. He was preceded in death by his parents, Steve R. and Anna Kosack Abrashoff and a sister, Patricia Abrashoff. The funeral service was held in Mount Union, Pennsylvania on July 6, 2012. Interment was in the Mount Union Cemetery with military honors conducted by the Huntingdon County Veterans Honor Guard.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, July 21, 2012, at the Eagle Rock Baptist Church, 1080 S. Bellin Road, Idaho Falls, ID.
