Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday at the First Christian Church of Eldon for Dr. Warren Logan Allee, 77, a lifetime resident of Miller County who had practiced medicine in Eldon for more than 53 years.

Dr. Allee passed away in his sleep about 6:45 a.m. Monday at a nursing home in St. Petersburg, Fla. A nurse had been into his room at 5:30 a.m. to give him a drink of water, and returning an hour and 15 minutes later, found he had died moments before as he slept.

He had gone to Florida only two days earlier. On Saturday, Dr. Allee was taken by ambulance to St. Louis and there accompanied his son, Dr. James W. Allee, by plane to St. Petersburg, arriving Saturday night. Word was received here that he had stood the trip fine and was feeling well when his son spent Sunday with him.

Dr. Allee had been in declining health the past year. He underwent surgery Dec. 9, 1958. During the past two months his health had failed rapidly. However, he was at his office the first of last week, and on Thursday before his departure for Florida was downtown in the car.

His body was to arrive in Eldon on Thanksgiving morning, and lie in state after 4 p.m. at Phillips Funeral Home. It will then lie in state at the church from 12:30 p.m. Friday until the services.

Dr. Allee, the son of the late Dr. W.S. And Laura Cyrena (Huston) Allee, was born Nov. 1, 1882, at Olean. He attended Olean Grade School, the Spring Garden Institute, and the Iberia Academy before going to the University of Missouri at Columbia for his pre-medical studies.

In 1906 he graduated from the St. Louis University Medical School and took his junior internship at the MK&T Railroad Hospital. On June 1, 1906, Dr. Allee began his practice in Eldon with the late Dr. G.D. Walker during the horse and buggy era. On Oct. 27, 1906, he was married to Miss Maude Franklin of Eldon. Since 1917, Dr. Allee had maintained his office at 7 S. Maple St., in a brick building built by him and the late J.A. Taylor, D.D.S.

Dr. Allee was a veteran of World War I military service. Both he and his wife, who preceded him in death Nov. 16, 1954, were active in church, civic and social events of the community. A longtime member of the First Christian Church of Eldon, he was a member of the official church board at the time of his death and had formerly served as chairman of the board.

For more than 40 years he had been a director of the Bank of Eldon, and only the first of this month resigned as president, a position he had held since 1953. In recognition of his years of service to the bank and the community, he was elected to the post of honorary chairman of the board. Dr. Allee also had devoted years of service to the school board, the PTA and other civic groups.

He had served as president of the Missouri State Medical Association, being named president elect in 1933 and presiding at the annual meeting in St. Joseph in 1934. For a number of years he also was one of Missouri's four delegates to the American Medical Association.

In April 1956, he was honored by the Missouri State Medical Association for his half century of service in the practice of medicine at the association's 98th annual meeting in ST. Louis.

Eldon, Miller County and surrounding areas also paid tribute to Dr. Allee just three years ago last week. On November 19, 1956, a standing room only crowd gathered at the Masonic Temple for a dinner in his honor sponsored by the Eldon Chamber of Commerce.

Further recognition was given him by the community this fall when the Eldon R-1 Schools' new athletic field was named Allee Field. In addition to his son of St. Petersburg, Fla., Dr. Allee is survived by a daughter, Mrs. R.H. Hinz of Leavenworth, Kan.; two brothers, H.P. Allee of Olean and Rea Allee of Kansas City; and three grandchildren, Galt and Sidney Allee of St. Petersburg, and Nell Franklin Hinz of Leavenworth. A third brother, Dr. G.D. Allee, died in 1946.

The Rev. C.N. VanDyke, pastor of the church, will conduct the services Friday. The body will then be taken to Kansas City for cremation and interment at Forest Hill Cemetery.
