She was born August 22, 1907, in Chippewa Counts the daughter of Oscar and Minda (Anderson) Bekken.
Alice married Elmer Steinmetz on April 14, 1926, in Bloomer. After his death in 1930, she married George Kressin on April 4, 1935. She worked at the Bloomer Brewery, the Bloomer Canning Factory and clerked at Burton's Ben Franklin.
She was a 50 year member of the Bloomer Order of Eastern Star and a dedicated, lifelong member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church and Women's Fellowship. She loved to bake cookies, lefse and donuts and share them with the family and friends ... of course the coffee pot was always on at Grandmas.
She is survived by two sons, Elmer "Amy" (Darlene) Steinmetz of Bloomer and Wayne (Pat) Steinmetz of Bloomer; two daughters. Mavis (Dale) Babbitt of Eau Claire and Jean (Charles) Lewis of Eau Claire: one brother, Ray Bekken of Richmond, Calif.; one sister, Mabel Britton of Bloomer; 14 grandchildren; and 31 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Elmer and George; four brothers, Edward, Herbert, Carl and Stanley Bekken; and two sisters, Bette Babbitt and Olga Smetana.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 12 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Bloomer, with the Rev. Lewis Thompson officiating. Interment will in the Bloomer City Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p m. Friday at The Olson Funeral Home, Bloomer, and one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday.
