Funeral services for James McCaw Brander, a native and formerly a resident of Richmond who died Saturday in Chicago, will be held this afternoon at 4 o'clock at the home of his sister, Mrs. William M. Taliaferro, 2012 Monument Avenue. Burial will be in the family section of Hollywood Cemetery. Mr. Brander was 56 years old at the time of his death, which followed a brief illness. Active pallbearers for the funeral will be Thomas H. Gresham, Austin Brockenbrough Jr., James P. Massie, Talbot Broome, Frank C. Acree and Fred H. Bunnell. Honorary pallbearers will include W. Frank Powers, Dr. Stuart Michaux, Julien H. Hill, H. Watkins Ellisson, Thomas B. McAdams, Richard C. Wight, Palmer Gray, Childry Scott and Thomas Moulton. Mr. Brander was born in Richmond, the son of Major Thomas A. Brander and Elizabeth Brander, and lived here through his early years. For a long time he had made his home in New York, where he was connected with the firm of J. P. Stevens and Company at the time of his death. In addition to Mrs. Taliaferro, he is survived by the following brothers and sister: Miss Elizabeth Brander and the Rev. William W. Brander of Richmond; and John A., Lewis W. and Thomas W. Brander of New York City. Also surviving are the following nieces and nephews: Mrs. Fred H. Bunnell and Brander Taliaferro of Richmond and Misses Joan and Maria Brander and Thomas W. Brander, Jr. of New York City.
