Mrs. Sallie Mae Sheppard, age 89, passed into eternal rest Thursday, July 20, 2006, at the Greenville Hospital in Jersey City, N.J. The Bulloch County native lived in Jersey many years and was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church of New Jersey. She was preceded in death by a sister, Julia Lee; and Ethel and Oscar Lewis.

She leaves memories to be cherished by a son, Thomas Sheppard, Jersey, N.J.; a daughter, Cleo Carty, Jersey City, N.J.; granddaughter, Madelyn Sweet, Jersey, N.J.; nieces, Maggie Carter, Miami, Fla., Valerie Days and Julia Williams, both of Miramar, Fla., Juanita Davis, Columbus, Ga., Iretha Perkins, Statesboro, Valerie, Lisa and Marjorie, all of Miami, Fla.; nephews, Daniel Lee, Statesboro, Marvin Graham, Nathaniel Graham and Willie Graham, all of Miami, Fla., and Leonard Graham, Savannah; a host of other relatives and friends.

The funeral service for Mrs. Sallie Mae Sheppard will be held 11 a.m. Saturday in the Ben Samuel Hill Memorial Chapel of Hill's Mortuary, Inc. with the Rev. Timotheus Mincey officiating. Burial will be in the Eastside Cemetery. Hill's Mortuary.
