Born on Haines St., Philadelphia, PA, he grew up with ten older siblings. Frank married Doris Catherine Goehns in 1946 after serving in the US Army Air Corps from 1942 - 1945. They had four children: Jae F, Francis W., Jr., Jon F., & James J. (Jon died as an infant with a congenital heart defect.) Frank battled lung cancer and congestive heart failure in his later years.
