Thomas E. Hall Last Rites Are Held at Geneva
Thomas E. Hall, son of George and Mary Jane, (Abbott) Hall, was born at Downing, Mo., on November 27, 1883. He was the last surviving member of five children, two who passed away in infancy.
He departed from this life at Fillmore County hospital in Geneva, Neb., on September 16, 1974, at the age of 90 years, 9 months and 16 days.
At the age of two he came with his parents to Nebraska. They settled in Fillmore county where he grew to manhood.
On December 24, 1905, he was united in marriage with Ada Belle Stewart. To this union were born three children, Mrs. Mable Ward, Mrs. Duane (Hazel) Tatro, both of Geneva; and Norma (Spohn) Michener of California.
They farmed on several different places in Fillmore county. In 1919 they purchased a farm in Chelsea township, residing there until 1945 when they retired and moved in to Geneva.
His wife, Ada, passed away on December 2, 1948. He continued living alone until October 8, 1973, when he entered Fairview Manor rest home, Fairmont, Neb., where he remained until he entered Fillmore County hospital on September 10, 1974.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Ada, his daughter Norma; two sons-in-law, Alva Ward and Bill Spohn; grandson Willard Ward and three brothers, Jesse, who died in infancy, Charlie and Earl. also one sister, Ida, who died in infancy.
He leaves to mourn his passing, two daughters, Mable and Hazel; son-in-law Duane; nine grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held in Farmer-Harris Funeral Home, Geneva, at 2 p.m., Thursday, September 19, 1974. Rev. John E. Stayton officiating. Organist was Mrs. Wilma Nelson.
Pallbearer's were John Brooke, Charles Hobbs, Clarence Nun, Alfred Lentfer, Warren Lefever and Charles Miller. Interment was in Geneva cemetery.
Those attending the funeral from out of town were Mr. and Mrs. Harold Stewart, Marysville, Kas., Mrs. Eva Wynn, Junction City, Kas., and Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Loyd, Bird City, Kas.
