Obituary: Gertrude Grady, 95, member, First Baptist Church

OBITUARIES

Mrs. Grady was the head of a large, highly respected family. She leaves 59 living descendants. She was a true Christian and a pillar in Columbia's First Baptist Church, where she was a Sunday School teacher and a member of the choir. She served as a missionary and led all her own children to Christ.

Gertrude Grady, age 95 years, Louisville, KY, formerly of Columbia, KY, passed away Tuesday, March 18, 2008, at 9:00pm at the Rockford Manor Nursing home in Louisville, KY, after a short illness.

The funeral service will be Monday, March 24, 2008, at 1:00pmCT, at First Baptist Church, Burkesville ST, Columbia, KY, with Rev. Leon Lasley, Jr., and Rev. Henry Mosley the officiating clergy. Interment will be in the Grady-Jones Cemetery near Gradyville, KY.

She was born April 18, 1912, the daughter of the late Garfield and Goldie Mae Rexroat Page of Adair County, KY.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Grant "Pete" Grady, on May 6, 1967.

She is survived by the following:

Two sons: William Grant Grady and wife Monika, Radcliff, KY; and Gary Grady and wife Martha Jean, Louisville, KY

Four daughters: Helen Paige of Indianapolis, IN; Meredith Johnston and husband Raymond, Louisville, KY; Bernada Murray and husband Charles, Indianapolis, IN; and Debra Brown and husband John, Hurst, TX

One daughter in law: Sara Ann Grady, Logansport, IN

By 15 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren, and 11 great grandchildren

And one niece: Jacqueline Beavers and husband Andrew, Los Angeles, CA

She was preceded in death by one son, Norman C. Grady.

She was a gracious and lovely person. She was a homemaker, in the finest sense of the word.

Mrs. Grady was a true believer in Jesus Christ and led all of her children to Christ. She was a dedicated member of the First Baptist Church where she served as a Sunday School teacher, a member of the First Baptist Church and missionary.

Grady Loop in southwest Columbia is named in honor of Mrs. Grady and her family.

The family requests visiting after 10:00am, Monday, March 24, 2008, at First Baptist Church.
