Bess Boyanton Pogue, 78, died Saturday. She was a native of Huntsville. Bess retired as a civil servant of the U.S. Army, Redstone Arsenal. She was a member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church.

Bess was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Boyanton Sr., and a sister Lena Yarbrough.

Survivors include her daughter, Carol Westbrooks and husband, Bobby; her son, Michael Pogue; granddaughters, Ashley Ford, and husband Barry, Lori Aday, and husband, Grant, and Natalie Minor; four great-grandchildren; brother, Art Boyanton, and wife B.J.; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at Good Shepherd Catholic

Church with a memorial Mass beginning at 11 a.m. Father Phil O'Kennedy and Father Louis Giardino will be officiating. Interment will be in Madison Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Good Shepherd Catholic Church or the Gideon's International.
