Lieut. Robert Tyrie Benton ("Tyrie") of Gainesville, Florida was the brother of my dear grandfather, Hugh Herbert Benton. Tyrie's family adored him, and he became a sort of father figure to his three younger brothers: Hugh, Charles, and John Joseph, after the passing of their father, Dr. John Robert Benton, in 1930. Tyrie's untimely death was a tragedy for the family, and his memory will be treasured.
