He was a VW machanic, by trade, but he could make any car run. He loved music...the beautiful old songs from the 20s, 30s, 40s. He was especially fond of the Mills Brothers and used to sing their song "Daddy's Little Girl", to his little girl, Diane. He learned to whistle when he was just a little fellow and never stopped. He would whistle the most beautiful music. I used to ask him to whistle my favorite, "Kiss Me Again", he always obliged and it was so beautiful. His high notes were exquisite. He was my mother's big brother and he lived with us for awhile. I remember sitting up late with him, at the kitchen table, talking and eating salteen crackers and drinking buttermilk. I loved the fact that even though my family called me Penny, he called me Nickoli. He was a wonderful uncle and I miss him so much.
He is also survived by 2 brothers, Kenneth & Robert Melhorn & 3 sisters, Olive O'Laughlin, Marie Melhorn & Roena Battolla as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by grandparents Johnathan & Lydia Melhorn, Nicholas & Jane Wyland and a brother Ralph Melhorn (1909-1925). He is so loved and missed.
