Carrie married Johnnie Hiatt ~1952. Johnnie had five young children when they wed and all of the children grew up thinking of Carrie as their mother. She developed osteosarcoma and passed away in 1973.
Carrie was my grandma, and though I was only six when she passed away some of my earliest memories are of spending time with her. She had a pekingese dog named Charlie that she adored. I remember her making "mickey mouse" pancakes for my brother and me and her letting us help bake pies and cookies.
