He was deployed with the UK contingent of NATO forces in Afghanistan.

Gdsm Tuisovurua was killed along with WO2 Leonard Thomas and Gdsm Craig Roderick during an exchange of small arms fire with an Afghan policeman. The three soldiers were part of a police advisory team conducting a shura at Checkpoint Kamparack Pul in the Nahr-e Saraj district of Helmand province.

Aged 28, Gdsm Tuisovurua was from Fiji. He started infantry training in November 2010 and joined the Welsh Guards in June 2011. He arrived in Afghanistan in April 2012 on his first operational deployment. His kind, friendly and relaxed approach ensured an immediate rapport with the Afghan Police he helped mentor. Hardworking, with an unswerving sense of duty, he was an extremely popular and respected member of the battalion. "Tui" is remembered for his infectious smile, ready laugh and gentle nature. He loved rugby and aspired to play for the battalion team.

Gdsm Tuisovurua leaves behind his father Neupote Tuisavura Sr, mother Litiana, four brothers and three sisters, along with other relatives and friends.

A repatriation ceremony was held at
RAF Brize Norton on July 5, 2012.

Funeral with full military honours was held on July 21, 2012 at Nauluvatu Methodist Church in Nakelo, Tailevu, Fiji.
