James Earl Roy of 402 Carpenter Street, Mart, Texas, died at Buie-Allen Clinic in Marlin, Texas on Jan. 5, 1949. He was born in Mart, Texas on Aug. 18, 1927 to William Clayton Roy and Althie Ostelle Rose Roy. Earl was fatally injured when he was thrown and then stepped on by a Brahma steer while riding in a rodeo at Riesel. Earl was twenty-one years old, single, and a veteran of WWII. He was survived by his parents. He was a truck driver at the time of his death. Burial was in Mart, Cemetery.
