Dorothy Viola (Nead) Angle, formerly of Saltillo, went to be with the Lord Sunday, Dec. 2, 2018, at the Altoona Center for Nursing.

Born July 8, 1924, she was the daughter of William W. and Viola (Wagner) Nead. She was married to Fred Grosh Angle July 25, 1942. Mr. Angle preceded her in death March 2, 2005.

Mrs. Angle is survived by her daughter, Nina Ott and husband, Janvier, of Washington, West Virginia; her son, Rodney and wife, Ruth, of Huntingdon; two grandchildren, Dr. Janine Gusztaw and husband, Robert, of Wind Gap, and Shane Ott and wife, Glenita, of Parkersburg, West Virginia; and three great-grandchildren, Megan Hockman, Alia Dorothy Ott and Anthony Michael Ott.

She was preceded in death by her siblings, Stella Drake, Myrtle Kimmel, Alma Ingle, Clarence, Walter and Harold Nead; and two siblings who died in infancy, Edwinna and Charles. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Mrs. Angle was a member of the Saltillo United Methodist Church until its closing, and she held various offices. Most recently, she attended the Immanuel Bible Church in Three Springs.

She graduated from Saltillo High School with honors.

With the exception of traveling with her husband during his military service, Mrs. Angle lived in the Saltillo area during her lifetime. She was also known by her family and friends for always lending a helping hand to those in need and volunteering for many organizations. They will remember her as an example of a kind and selfless person. Mrs. Angle took great pride in her heritage and worked tirelessly on her families’ genealogy. She considered herself to be a true coal miner’s daughter, as her father worked the mines his entire life. Mrs. Angle’s family and friends will remember she could recount so vividly stories of her childhood living in a small town during the depression and coal mining era. A favorite story was that as a child she would wait for her father to come home from the mines. He would always save a piece of his lunch for her which would be covered in coal dust. Her family and friends will remember her for her artistic talents and her devotion to nature. Mrs. Angle was always an advocate for animals and their welfare. She nursed many ailing and homeless cats and dogs.

Upon Mrs. Angle’s request, there will be no public viewing or visitation. Interment will be made at the original Wagner homestead at the Cherry Grove Cemetery in Three Springs at the family’s convenience.

Those wishing to honor Mrs. Angle may do so by donating to the Immanuel Bible Church, 22054 Starr Road, Three Springs, PA 17264; or the Huntingdon County Humane Society, 11371 Schoolhouse Hollow Road, Huntingdon, PA 16652.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Martin R. Brown Funeral Home, Orbisonia.
