Julius Niels Perersen son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Petersen, was born February 14, 1877 in Copenhagen, Denmark.
He was orphaned at the age of two years and went to live with an uncle in Schleswig-Holstein.
He came to Anerica in 1902 and setted in cedar County, Nebraska, near Laurel.
On October 28th, 1906, he was united in marriage to Miss Mary Johansen of Laurel, Nebraska. To this union six children, four sons and two daughters were born. The oldest son, Henry, died in 1928.
In 1917 the Petersen's moved to Winner, South Dakota and in 1924 they moved to Todd County, South Dakota, where they lived until Mr. Petersen's death.
Mr. Petersen was a memver of the Methodist Church at Laurel, Nebraska.
He passed away in Valentine following a lingering illness on September 21st, 1955. He is survived by his wife Mary, three sons, Lee of Crookston, Lorenz of Cascade, Idaho: and Julius of Valentine, two daughters, Mrs. Luella Riley of Crookston, and Mrs. Martha Litzo of Bonesteel, South Dakota: eleven grandchildren, four nephews and one niece and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were conducted in the Valentine Methodist Church on September 24th, 1955. Burial was at Mr. Hope Cemetery.
