LOUISA GELBKE

FORMER RESIDENT OF CITY DIES AT ANTIGO, BODY TO BE BROUGHT HERE
FOR BURIAL ON MONDAY
The body of Mrs. Louise H. Gelbke, former resident of this city
who died suddenly at Antigo yesterday, will be brought here for
burial Monday, arriving at noon. Services will be held from the
German Reformed church.
Mrs. Gelbke, widow of the late C. W. Gelbke, who preceded her in
death 12 years ago, was born at Nordhausen, Saxony, Oct. 8, 1848,
and came to Manitowoc with her parents as a girl. Following the
death of her husband, Mrs. Gelbke made her home with her son, K.C.
Gelbke at Fairfield, Ia., and later removed to Antigo. For five
years she has been totally blind but endured her affliction with
great patience. She was a talented knitter and despite her
blindness did a remarkable amount of work for the Red Cross.
Surviving the departed are her son, K.C. Gelbke, one brother,
Henry C. Mundt of Manitowoc and two grandchildren.
