Death came at 8:40 o’clock Sunday morning in a Greenville hospital to Mrs. D.R. Scott, 68, well-known Greenville woman and a native of Hunt County who was making her home with her daughter, Mrs. Garland Trotter, 1727 Walnut Street. Mrs. Scott has been ill for several months.

Final rites were observed at 2 o’clock this afternoon. The services were held at Wesley Methodist church, with the pastor, the Rev. John Morphis officiating, assisted by the Rev. Bailey of Wolfe City and the Rev. Boyd DeVore of Dallas. Burial was in East Mount cemetery.

Pallbearers were Hal Ellis, L.B. Mills, Lester Vaden, Ples Brown, Roy Cherry and Punk Slemmons.

Arrangements were in charge of James-Coker-Peters Funeral Home.

Mrs. Scott was born in Kingston, north of Greenville, on June 30, 1884 and had lived in Hunt County all of her life. She was the daughter of J.O. Duncan and Dixie Crowder Duncan, well-known Hunt Countians. She was married to Scott on February 10, 1901, and since his death on January 15, 1949 had been residing with her daughter, Mrs. Trotter.

At an early age Mrs. Scott embraced the teachings of Christianity and united with the Methodist church. At the time of her death she was a member of Wesley Methodist church here and as long as her health permitted was keenly interested in its programs.

Mrs. Scott was pointed to by her neighbors and friends as an outstanding Christian woman, one who was devoted to members of her family and friends. She was particularly interested in providing a pleasant home for her children and later the large number of grandchildren. At all times was she a congenial and helpful neighbor and friend an di (sic) was a satisfying experience to her to be of assistance to others.

Surviving Mrs. Scott are five sons Roy Scott of Lubbock; Joe Scott and Robert Scott of Greenville; A.W. Scott of McKinney and B.W. Scott of Wolfe City; five daughters, Mrs. Garland Trotter of Greenville; Mrs. Clyde Hogue and Mrs. Bert Perrin of Dallas; Mrs. Brown Cherry of Garland and Mrs. Earl W. Jones of Budingen, Germany.

Also surviving Mrs. Scott are five sisters, Mrs. Ed Rutherford of Greenville; Mrs. O.O. Pinkerton of Celeste; Mrs. Harry Chamberlain of Massachusetts; Miss Maude Duncan of Dallas and Mrs. Virginia Ray of Dallas; twenty-three grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
