John Thomas Pace born July 26, 1844, s/o John R. Pace and Emily R. Taylor,served in the Union Forces during the Civil War, from July 18, 1861 thru Dec 16, 1861. He served in Union Company G, Osage Regiment, Home Guards in Milam CO MO under Captain Bradshaw. Also served Feb 21, 1864, thru April 19,1866 in Company L 12th Regiment Calvary Volunteers at Russelville MO under Captain Sherman. He was wounded in arm during action at Abbeyville,Mississippi on Aug 13, 1864. His rank was private during both periods of service.

On Dec 20, 1866, when John Thomas was 22, he married Mary Jane Bird in Cole CO MO. He filed an affidavit in the pension file for Nancy Jones Gouge when she applied for a Civil War Pension based on the service of her son, James David Gouge. He listed his residence as Centertown, Cole Co,MO on 23 Dec 1882. He states his age as 38 years and says he has known the claimant, Nancy Jones Gouge, since 1859. John T. Pace and Mary Bird had 6 children that I know of.
