Mrs. Edward W. Mackey, 68, of 1601 Clark street, wife of the late Edward W. Mackey, co-publisher and editor of the Manitowoc Herald-News, died Thursday afternoon at the Holy Family hospital, following a lingering illness.
Private funeral services will be held Saturday morning at the Pfeffer funeral home. The Rev. Paul Blaufuss will officiate and interment will be in Evergreen cemetery. Friends are asked to please omit flowers.
Mrs. Mackey, nee Linda Gerpheide, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Otto Gerpheide, was born in this city in 1882. She was a graduate of the old west side high school and was married to Mr. Mackey in 1905. His death occurred ten years ago following his retirement from the newspaper field.
Survivors are her mother, Mrs. Otto Gerpheide of this city and a sister, Mrs. Pat McCauly of Maplewood, N.J.
